Sowing & growing

Sow Jan-March under cover in pots or modules of seed compost, 10mm deep. Propagate at 10-15°C until germination, at which point grow on at lower temperatures. When young plants reach 20cm tall, acclimatise, and plant out into well-drained soil, 15cm deep, 25cm apart in rows 30cm apart. March-May, sow sparingly outside in drills 10mm deep in a prepared seed bed. Can be transplanted to final growing location later.

Aftercare

Make sure planting hole is wet prior to planting. Mound soil around the plants as they grown for long white shanks.
